RELATED: Genshin Impact: The Best Team Compositions To Pair With Ayaka
Players who manage to pull her are in luck — she’s one of the best DPS characters in Genshin Impact, and she makes a great addition to almost any team. To maximize her potential, here’s everything needed to completely ascend Kamisato Ayaka and upgrade her talents.
Leveling Materials
Every playable character in Genshin Impact requires the same amount of EXP and Mora between each ascension level, as outlined here:
In total, it’ll take over 8 million EXP for a character to reach level 90, which is the highest possible. To get there, here’s an efficient combination of EXP materials:
Ayaka Ascension Items
It pays to ascend strong characters, including Ayaka. To do so, she’ll need to utilize a few items and some Mora. Here’s everything needed at each ascension level, and a total for each.

Gemstones - Where to Find Shivada Jade
As the wielder of a Cryo Vision, Ayaka will need some Shivada Jade to ascend. Players can exchange Geo and Anemo sigils to the souvenir shops in Liyue and Mondstadt, respectively, or acquire it from the Adventurers’ Guild for completing daily commissions. It can also be obtained from bosses, which is the primary source for most people.
These bosses can reward Shivada Jade when defeated:
Azhdaha Andrius Childe/Tartaglia La Signora Cryo Regisvine Cryo Hypostasis Coral Defenders Maguu Kenki Primo Geovishap Perpetual Mechanical Array
Enemy Drop - Where to Find Handguards
The bandit samurai and yoriki of Inazuma will drop various levels of Handguards when defeated. These enemies, known as Kairagi and Nobushi, will drop better Handguards at higher levels.
Any level Kairagi or Nobushi: Old Handguard Kairagi and Nobushi level 40 or higher: Kageuchi Handguard Kairagi and Nobushi level 60 and higher: Famed Handguard
Boss Drop - How to Get Perpetual Heart
It’s great that the Perpetual Mechanical Array can drop Shivada Jade, because it’ll slightly expedite the process of ascending Ayaka. This is because she needs an item dropped only by this boss: the Perpetual Heart.
This boss must be accessed, as it’s hidden below Jinren Island in Inazuma. To do so, find a portal on Jinren Island or work through the Cleansing Defilement questline, which will lead to its arena.
Local Specialty - Where to Find Sakura Blooms
Ever notice those glowing pink balls of petals that hover in the air around Narukami Island? Those are Sakura Blooms, and hitting them with Electro (either with an attack or by being affected by Electro), they’ll become collectable.
The primary purpose of these Sakura Blooms is cooking and crafting, but Ayaka also uses them for her ascension.
Ayaka Talent Materials
Part of making a playable character combat worthy is upgrading their three upgradeable talents. Ayaka will use the following items and small fortune in Mora for hers:
Talent Books - Elegance
Ayaka is the elegant daughter of the Kamisato clan, so it’s not shocking that she uses the Elegance series of talent books for her talent upgrades.
These books can be obtained by clearing the Violet Court domain on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Trounce Materials and Crowns of Insight
Even though she’s from Inazuma, Ayaka uses a Liyue-based trounce material to ascend, that being the Bloodjade Branch. This item can be obtained by defeating Azhdaha at his weekly trounce domain.
Crowns of Insight are used to upgrade a character’s talents from level 9 to level 10. They can be obtained by making offerings to the Sacred Sakura in Inazuma or Frostbearing Tree on Dragonspine. They’re also sometimes rewards during time-limited events.
Genshin Impact is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices, with a Nintendo Switch version in development.
